About Us

Meet the man behind Road Race Service and our mission state.

Ed Williams

Race Director

About Ed

Ed has been putting on road racing events in the metro Atlanta area since 1984. If you've spent any time in the Atlanta running community, you have probably run in one of his races (and had a blast while doing so). Ed specializes in events ranging from 1 mile to 10 kilometers.  Many of Ed's races are located in the heart of Atlanta, or in the historic Virginia-Highland neighborhood. A pioneer in the road race business, Ed was the first race director to put on road races in the Virginia-Highland area. He also owned a detective and polygraph agency in the neighborhood (before he decided he liked working with runners better than working with criminals). Ed eventually earned the nickname “The Mayor of Virginia-Highland”. Ed was influential in the establishment of the Virginia-Highland Summerfest 5K. Click here to learn more about his involvement. Ed has worked with Olympians such as Craig Virgin and Jeff Galloway. As a former 34 minute 10K runner, Ed was top seeded at peachtree for over a decade. While he has slowed some over the years, he still runs the Peachtree Road Race every year. Ed continues his involvement in the running community through road race management.

About Road Race Services

Ed founded Road Race Services as a way to promote physical fitness and healthy living through walking and running. Road Race Services produces a variety of races in the Atlanta area, many of which benefit local charities such as they YWCA of Greater Atlanta, local churches, the Virginia-Highland Civic Association, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the American Cancer Society, and the Colon Cancer Alliance to name a few. We hope to see you at our next event! Interested in having Road Race Services organize an event for you? Contact Ed Williams at roadraceservices@comcast.net.
